Advanced Open Water Course Content

The Advanced Open water course has two main components:
  • Knowledge development (studied online, independently prior to the first open water dive) to give you an introduction to the various areas of diving that you will be exploring
  • 5 Open Water Dives - Navigation and Deep, + 3 chosen by the group*. Other dives can include Night, Wreck, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Fish ID, Search and Recovery, UW Photography, Boat and more.

*please note that the sea conditions will affect the dives that are available on the day

The course typically takes place over a weekend (2-3 days, depending on the time of year and weather constraints).

Saturday: 08.30 - 16.00

  • Introductions, paperwork and theory review
  • 2 sea dives
  • Debrief, log dives and post dive BBQ at Dive Wellington

Sunday: 08.30 - 17.00

  • 3  sea dives
  • Debrief, log dives and post dive BBQ at Dive Wellington

Extra day:

  • A back up day to complete the course dives should the class be unable to finish over the weekend or the class choses the Night dive. This will be arranged with you by Dive Wellington.
