Self-Reliant Specialty Course Content

The Self-Reliant Specialty Diver Course has two parts:

  • Knowledge Development - During a classroom session you will focus on learning how to compensate for situations you would normally handle with a buddy. This includes proper dive planning using air consumption rate calculations, life support system redundancy, and independent management of dive emergencies.
  • 3 x Open Water Dives
    • Performing an air consumption rate swim to gather information for later calculation.
    • Switching to a redundant air supply system during simulated emergency situations.
    • Swimming without a mask.
    • Navigating to various points, including your exit.
    • Using a DSMB.

The course takes place over 2-3 days.

Courses are scheduled on demand.

DSMB rental is $20. All other equipment rental is free of charge for this course.
