Dave Drane

Dave joined the dive industry fulltime in 2000 as a dive instructor. He became a Padi Course Director (the highest qualification in the Padi system) in 2005 and has since taught and mentored many new dive instructors. He has way too many instructor qualifications to list them all.

He has been operating boat charters in the Wellington area for many years and is one of Wellington’s most experienced skippers.

Dave has done thousands of dives and has dived most areas around New Zealand. He has also dived most of the pacific and many other parts of the world. He likes to get out for a spearfish when he can as well.

He is an active supporter of Taputeranga Marine Reserve and on the board of trustees for the reserve.

“Diving has enabled me to see some fantastic sites and have some great adventures. I’ve been cage diving with great whites, snorkelling with humpback whales, dived World War 2 wrecks and been circled by schooling hammerheads in Galapagos. I’ve met some cool people and get to introduce them to our amazing underwater world.
